Dave Betts is a Bristol-based drummer and percussionist whose compositions span the worlds of Jazz, Latin and Funk. He formed the Dave Betts quintet in 2000 and just two years later played a residency at Ronnie Scott’s legendary jazz club in London. One of the Ronnie Scott’s performances was recorded as a live album which was very well received by the jazz press (see reviews).
The Dave Betts Quartet – Dave with Kevin Figes (sax), Anders Olinder (keys) and Clive Radford (guitar) – is currently on a 2013 tour.
Dave has worked with a wide variety of musicians from Peter Gabriel to jazz pianist Jason Rebello and with acclaimed composers such as David Fanshawe (African Sanctus). His unique playing style enables him to play several percussion instruments at once, and live performances are full of energy and multiple layers of Latin rhythm – not to be missed!
